DOM3, the association of businesses for high quality housing which preserves and promotes the business of design, development and construction of high quality housing in Marbella and the surrounding local area, is pleased to announce the second edition of the DOM3 PRIZE Architecture Awards for the design of world class housing developments.
The aim of the competition is to develop three plots in the “Icon Urbanisation”, an architectural complex of detached villas and apartments in the privileged location of “Santa Clara de Marbella Urbanisation”, which has an area of nearly 60,000 square metres.
Architects from around the world may participate on an individual basis or as a part of a multidisciplinary team. It is not necessary to be licensed as an architect in Spain to participate in the contest.
The prizes shall consist of:
- A first prize of EUR 40,000 awarded to the winning architect.
- A second prize of EUR 20,000.
- A third prize of EUR 10,000.
- The developer and owner of the plots reserves the right to execute all or part of the winning project or of any other project presented, also reserving the right to commission another architect for the corresponding basic projects, detailed studies, plus implementation projects and management of the works in progress.
The contestant will be recognised as the author of his/her work or design, retaining his/her intellectual rights. However, by accepting these rules, the participant exclusively transfers all rights to the developer to exploit his/her draft in any form and the rights of transformation and any patent or other intellectual rights to such work. Also, the contestant transfers the right to reproductions (either total or partial), distribution and public communication, to the developer and DOM3.
The deadline to deliver the projects is 16 May 2016. The judging panel will publish their final decision on the 3 June 2016, while the official awards ceremony and publication of the winners will take place on Friday 17 June.
This award, aimed at architects and architectural firms worldwide, held its first edition in June 2014. The winners, a team formed by architects Simón Francés Martínez and Judith Sastre de Arce, from Francés + Sastre Studio Architects (Madrid, Spain), designed a futuristic villa in the prestigious private urbanisation area of “La Zagaleta” with their project “Beldevere” for which they were awarded a prize of EUR 40,000. Blacam and Meagher Architects (Dublín, Ireland) placed second with their project “Casa de los Naranjos”, while PR Architecture (London, UK) came in third with their project “The Mountain Top House”.
The award is a great opportunity for clients and friends of GGI members who may wish to participate, not only because of the prize amounts, but also for the national and international prestige and recognition as well as the opportunity to increase their profile in a top world residential area, where the mountainside is lined with palm-fringed avenues with beautiful villas, exclusive village-style townhouse complexes, luxurious apartments and country club environments, or alternatively on the millionaire’s row of beach fronting mansions and exquisite penthouses with panoramic views over the Mediterranean.
All administrative correspondence concerning the award will be provided to participants in digital format. Just contact the Secretariat of the competition at firstname.lastname@example.org
